GRAPHITES

 Graphites is one of the carbon preparations introduced in Homoeopathy by Dr. Hahnemann. It is a long-acting remedy, mostly usable for skin disease.

Look of the Graphites patient:

Graphites patient usually obese, fair & flabby. In case of women; obesity is developed due to hormonal imbalance. They also give the history of habitual constipation & delayed menstruation.  Graphites child are teasing, impudent & laugh at reprimands.

Skin disease:

It is a useful remedy for skin disease like eczema & herpes. The secretion from eruptive surface is very much sticky, oozing out & transparent. The secretion comes out from the eruptive area become turns into a hard scab. Eczema usually seen behind the ears, over the head, over the joints of elbow, between the fingers and toes. The patient who has suffered from this type of skin disease for long time Graphites can act well. Sometimes Graphites is confused with another Homoeopathic remedy Mezereum. Mezereum is a good remedy for head eczema. But its symptoms are differed from Graphites. Mezereum secretion of skin disease is thicker than Graphites & thick leather like crust are formed. If this crust is removed pus are seen under the beneath surface. Mezereum secretion is copious where Graphites secretion is thick & oozing out. Graphites also useful after effect of Psorinum in skin condition. When Psorinum dried up the eczematous condition but after some days the eruption again brings into the surface then Graphites is useful. The nail become thick, deform & painful in case of taenia. Skin symptoms are aggravated in warm, at night warm. Graphites is also useful for genital herpes if symptoms agree. Genital herpes occurs due to improper sexual behaviour & if its once developed its never be gone.

Constipation:

Graphites patient is suffering from habitual constipation. Patient can’t defecate several days. The stools are accumulated on the rectum & produce a hard mass of feaces & then comes out but the stool covered with mucous threads. Drinking a glass of hot milk may relief constipation. Alumina & Bryonia also have bad type of constipation. But in Alumina the stools are come out from anus with great force but it goes reverse back to anus. In case of Bryonia, the beginning of stool is hard but remaining portion is soft.

Menstrual problem:

Graphites is useful for scanty menstruation. This condition is developed due to hormonal imbalance which may lead to obesity. The menses stays only for 2-3 days, become scanty, pale with violent colicky pain. Usually there is morning sickness & headache during menstruation. The women also suffering from leucorrhoea before & after menses. Leucorrhoea become thick, acrid & gushing out day & night.

Mental condition:

Mentally patient become despondent, sad, prostrated. Music makes her wipes. Become feels hesitate & unable to decide any things. For example, if anyone can be force to do anything she thinks a lot before doing, even after doing she again thinks about good side or bad side of the work also thinking about her fault a lot. A peculiar sensation like cobweb over the face also feel while raising from sleep in the morning.

 

Graphites patient dislike to eats meat, warm food, sweet. Sweet produce nausea. Also suffering from occasional diarrhoea due to suppressed rash. Graphites patient usually chilly but skin symptoms are aggravated in warm.

Modalities:

Graphites symptoms are usually aggravates in warm, at night, taking meat, before & after menses, uncovering & cold drinks. Patient feels better in dark & wrapping up.
