MILLEFOLIUM (Yarrow)
Yarrow also named as Achillea
millefolium by Linnaeus because this plant was first used by Achilles, on the
instruction of Chiron, to heal the wounds of his soldiers. Actually, Millefolium
is a wonderful bleeding remedy. Its another name is ‘nose-bleed’ because
insertion of some Millefolium leaves into the nostrils may brings nose-bleed.
In Homoeopathy it is used for treating bleeding from any orifice of the body.
Millefolium
is come when the bleeding become bright red in color. Another Homoeopathic
remedy Phosphorus also produce bright red bleeding but used according to
constitutional symptoms similarity. Millefolium may also effective when increase
bleeding from cancerous wound, to stopping bleeding. Millefolium also
used to the patient who has bleeding tendency. Usually, Millefolium
bleeding is developed due to falling, over-exertion, suppressed menses,
suppressed lochia.
*** Headache: Millefolium cures headache due to excessive rushes of blood to the
brain. Before headache eyes are congested, looking red, blurring of vision, pain
at the root of the nose and forehead. Headache mostly feels on right side of
the forehead and back. Slight throbbing of carotids. Flushed looking. Sensation
as if all blood were carried towards head. Sensation as if right side of the
head become screwed together. This condition sometime notice after reading
short while. Headache sometimes relief after nose-bleeding.
*** Female condition: Millefolium
beneficial for reducing excessive uterine bleeding with cramping pain in lower
part of the abdomen. Menstrual flow returns after slight physical exercise. A dose of higher potency Millefolium may prevent threatened abortion.
Women have tendency to bleed on slight activity, may stops on taking rest. Some
cases convulsion or epileptic fits occurs after stoppage of menstrual bleeding
or during the onset of menses also treated with this medicine.
*** Millefolium has some peculiar sensation. Sensation as if he forgotten
somethings, as blood ascends to the head, as too much blood to the eyes, as
cold air coming from the ears, liquid moving in intestine.
*** Millefolium also used for the treatment of bloody dysentery.
Profuse dark chocolate color stools with burning and cramping pain in
intestine. It also come for the treatment of hematuria (bloody urine), bleeding
hemorrhoids, hemoptysis (sputum mixed with blood) in case of tuberculosis.
*** Modalities: Millefolium symptoms are increased by stooping, lifting, exertion,
fall from height, coffee drinking and reduce by rest, lying down.
*** Relations:
Compare: Erech. (epistaxis, hemoptysis), Hamma, Ipecac (haemorrhage), Bry, Ustilago,
hamma (hematemesis), Acon. (haemorrhage, profuse bright red flow with anxiety,
but in Mille; absence of anxiety).
Incompatible:
Coffee (causes congestion to head).
