CALCAREA CARBONICA

Calcarea carbonica also known as lime prepared from the middle layer of oyster shell. From ancient period until now people used lime in several purpose. Lime water mixed with oil used externally to reduce burn pain; as a soothing application to eczema; to correct acidity, lime combination with milk may prevent vomiting in child who are bottle feeding. Dry powder of carbonate mixed with other drugs is also used to control diarrhoea. In Homoeopathy it has several beneficial effects.

          Calcarea carbonica patient can identify by its body constitution. The person become fatty & flabby, having muscles without strength. But in some case of cal. carb the patient become lean and thin. Profuse sweating in day especially doing work, during sleep. Head sweats profusely in child may wet the pillow. sweat has sour odor. Great desire to eat eggs. Patient become easily fatigue due to lack of strength. Tendency to obesity in youth. Calcarea carb has come in case of child  who has history of delayed milestone development. That means the child is late to walk, to talk. Calcarea carb child look chubby but lake of strength. Children even adult peoples are desire to eat undigested food particles like clay, coal, chalk, pencil etc. Calcarea carb patient look depressed & they also suffer from depression. Depression develops the girls before puberty, an appropriate treatment may save the life from self-killing. The patient also has great fear and apprehensions that she will lose her reason, misfortune, contagion, disease etc.

*** Headache:

Calcarea carb used in any type of headache. Particularly patient feel heavy aching & pressing in various part of the head, usually increased in light, day time. Headache worse by reading, stooping & relief by applying cold. The peculiar symptom regarding to headache that head become cold easily & seems affected thereby.

*** Mind symptoms:

Great apprehension become worse in evening. Fear of darkness, misfortune. Low spirited. Great grief & depression. Scary dreams. Restlessness of mind with gloomy mood. Intellectual deficiency.

*** Gastro-intestinal disorder:

Any type of stomach disorder. Pit of the stomach become enlarged and very painful on pressure. Sour taste in mouth. Sour vomiting. Desire undigested food particles. Great desire to taking eggs during sick. Stomach complaints are aggravated after eating & by pressure.

          Abdomen become pot-bellied, sensitive to pressure. Liver region become painful. Disposition of fat in abdomen. Abdominal pains are increased when inspired.

          Appetite become increased or less. Worm infection in children with diarrhoea during dentition; main cause of diarrhoea is to enter undigested particles in mouth. Stools contain undigested food particles, having offensive odor, whitish, having constant tenesmus even after defecation.

          Usually, Calcarea carb patient is habitually constipated but it can also used in chronic diarrhoea. Great force is required to expel stool in case of constipation. Hemorrhoids with bleeds profusely.

*** Respiratory symptoms:

Calcarea carb cough become dry at night and evening. Tickling in trachea & cough is provoked by exposure to cold, talking, eating. Yellowish sputum sometimes mixed with blood may expelled after long time coughing. Aching violently in chest with oppressed feeling. Calcarea carb also useful for dust asthma aggravates before the onset of storm.

*** Female condition:

Calcarea carb is suited to the ladies who has early menarche (first menstruation) & then suffer from menstrual problem. Menses is too early too profuse; but in some case too scanty may causing amenorrhoea. Feet are feels cold. In some case headache may feels during menses. Abdominal colic after menses.

          Calcarea carb. is useful for the treatment of childhood leucorrhoea. Leucorrhoea become milky white (Borax) in color & acrid, discharges between menses.

*** Anaemia:

 Calcarea carb is a good remedy for the patient who have pernicious anaemia. This anaemia is caused due to lack of secretion of intrinsic factor of Castle from stomach, so that vitamin B12 can’t be absorbed. Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Khalifatul Masih (IV) explained in his homoeopathy class that, “Vitamin B12 alone can’t cure pernicious anaemia, although it needs to be constantly administered to prevent against the associated bad effects. Vitamin B12 can’t be absorbed in the stomach so, it needs to be given by injection for life. In such patients, if Calcarea carb is given in homoeopathic potency, this obviates the necessity for supplementation with vitamin B12, & the body itself starts making blood.” The biochemic medicine ferrum phos, calcarea phos, kali phos also found beneficial in treating anamia.

***Bone symptoms:

Bone symptoms are seemed in children. Bones are soft, weak, easily fractured. This condition is developed due to deficiency of calcium. Bones are unable to hold the weight of bulky body. Curving of bone, especially spine and long bones. As lack of strength in bone so, ultimately child walks late. Delayed ossification of bone. Delayed dentition. Hairs is falling out.

*** General modalities:

Calcarea carb symptoms are aggravated in cold air & water, wet weather, in full moon, in morning. Amelioration on lying on painful side.

*** Relations:

Complementary: Belladonna. Calcarea is chronic to Belladonna.

          Antidoted by: China, Nitric acid, camphor.    

          Never be used before Sulphur. Act best after Sulphur, Nitric acid. Comes before Lycopodium. 

          Calcarea carb is a long-acting remedy, so, frequent repetition is prohibited in aged person.
