CHELIDONIUM MAJUS

 Chelidonium is an organopathic remedy useful for the treatment of liver diseases.

Key symptom of this medicine is constant pain under the lower and inner angle of right scapula. This symptom must be present with other complaint either it is hepatic problem or other condition.

*** Chelidonium has great affection over the right side of the body. Affects right side like right lung, right side of the abdomen, right eye, right side of the head.

***Liver disease: Chelidonium is useful for any kind of liver diseases in its acute stage. The symptoms of liver affection are constant pain under the inner and lower angle of right scapula may also radiate to right shoulder, this symptom is considered as the confirmatory symptom of cholecystitis (inflammation of gall bladder). This pain may increase in around 4 p.m. and 4a.m. The skin and mucous membranes are turns yellow. Patient cannot lay on right side also cannot touch the area. The characteristic symptom of chelidonium is tongue symptom. Tongue coated yellow with imprint of teeth. Patient also feel bitter taste in mouth. Chelidonium patients are like to taking hot food and drinks especially hot milk relieves their pain.

In liver and gall bladder disease, chelidonium may compare with Bryonia, lycopodium and Cardduus. Bryonia is come when patient complaints a constant stitching pains with liver problem, pain is relief by lying down on affected side and applying pressure. Patient cannot talk too and wants to remain silent because a little bit of movement aggravates his condition. But in Chelidonium, patient cannot lay on affected side, eating hot drinks to reduce the pain. In Lycopodium the pain character is totally differ from others. Patient experienced a constant dull aching pain in abdomen with excessive lower abdominal flatulency. Another medicine Cardduus also shows the sign of constant pain under the right rib cage also having a peculiar sensation that liver is shifted to opposite side if he turned to left lateral position.

*** Stool character: Chelidonium has alternating characters of stool. One times diarrhoea and another time its constipation. In case of constipation stool become hard as like as sheep dunk, yellowish-grey in color. Diarrhoea occurs at night and offensive clay color stool is passing.

*** Mind symptoms: Mentally patient become depressed, always feel anxiety. Cannot concentrate to the subject. If he tries to concentrate to the subject then he feels vertigo, sometimes causing vomiting.

*** Lung disease: Chelidonium use in pneumonia which affects the right side of the lung and having constant pain under the lower and inner angle of right scapula. Violent rusting cough with slight expectoration. Dusty feeling in throat. Excessive sensitiveness in chest; cannot lay in erect position, bending forwards over the pillow to relief of pain.

*** Modalities: Generally, all the symptoms of Chelidonium are aggravated at right side, 4 p.m., 4 a.m., on motion, taking cold food. Symptoms are relief by applying pressure, taking hot food and drinks especially hot milk.
