ALLIUM CEPA

 

Allium cepa is a liliaceae group of herbs prepared from its fresh red bulb. Allium cepa first proving on Dr. Constantine Hering and its beneficial effects are first revealed. Allium cepa is a short acting remedy and mostly useful for acute nasal catarrh.


***All of the symptoms of Allium cepa is first appear in right side of the body and then goes to left. Suppose, one has been suffering from nasal catarrh first left nose is affected then catarrh attacks right nose.

*** Symptoms of Allium cepa are developed in exposure to cold, during winter season. Although cold aggravates the condition but the patient's sufferings are relief in open air.

*** Catarrhal symptoms: The nasal discharge of Allium cepa is watery, acrid and excoriating the part. Nasal discharges are profuse and acrid may associated with profuse bland lachrymation. The condition as similar as during peeling or slice an onion. Profuse sneezing, especially when enter into the warm room. Nasal symptoms are aggravated in living warm room and towards the evening.

 Euphrasia is another homoeopathic medicine useful for treating catarrh. Euphrasia is differentiating with Allium by following symptoms. Both Allium cepa and Euphrasia produce profuse watery nasal discharges and lachrymation. But the Euphrasia's nasal discharges are bland, where Allium produced acrid secretions. Euphrasia's lachrymation are acrid, burning and profuse, in where Allium lachrymation are bland. Euphrasia's nasal symptoms are aggravates at night because during sleeping the nasal discharges goes down to throat and it irritates the lungs. Allium cepa's nasal symptoms are aggravates in cold weather or exposure to cold.

*** Respiratory symptoms: Allium cepa also useful for the treatment of laryngitis and acute bronchitis. Patient is continues coughing to relieve his condition. Violent burning and smarting in throat with sensation of thread like pain around the neck. Neck pain is so severe that it feeling that amputated the nerve around the neck. Hoarseness of voice due to continues coughing. Tickling in larynx with sensation as it torn. Inspiring cold air may bring hacking cough. Oppressed breathing with feeling of pressure on middle of the chest.


*** Headache: Allium cepa reduced the headache when it associated with catarrh or headache due to exposure to cold and mostly occurs in forehead. Headache worse in warm room and towards the evening.

*** Earache: Allium cepa useful to relief earache when the patient suffering from mild deafness with watery secretions comes from the ear.

*** Abdominal problems: Allium cepa used for abdominal cramps due to taking raw fruits, salads, raw onions or taking extremely cold food or drinks (Allium patient has strong desire to taking raw onion). Abdominal symptoms are aggravated on seating and relieved on moving.

*** Allium cepa also use for the treatment of traumatic neuritis or neuralgia where there is thread like pain and the area become burning.

*** Modalities: Generally, the Allium cepa symptoms are aggravated on exposure to cold, in winter season, talking raw onions, in evening, living in warm room and his sufferings are relieved in open air and cold room.
